Purr-casso in One Week - Sunday November 9th!


Help us make this event a huge success!

This year's free event will include over 150 feline and canine arts and crafts; Miss Oakland 2008

All kinds of arts and crafts have been donated by an eclectic group, ranging from famous animation artists to local artists you may not have seen yet. All on display and for sale one afternoon only. Appetizers are being provided by Ali Cat's Catering and wine by Mutt Lynch Winery.

Meet Miss Oakland 2008, Carly Claffey, whose platform is “A Second Chance at Love: Supporting Local Animal Rescue.”

Sunday, November 9th from 12-4 pm at the Hollis Street Project located at 5900 Hollis Street, Emeryville (click for a map). All art work is donated and 100 percent of the proceeds benefit the cats and dogs at BEBHS.

Bill Robinson has 3 pieces for Purr-casso

Bill Robinson has three pieces for Purr-casso 2008:This is large (24"X16") acrylic painting on masonite.



These two pieces are 9"x9" gouache paintings.

Bill is an artist at Three Rings, a video game company in San Francisco. Check out his blog!

Pixar artist Bill Presing adds his work to PurrCasso!

Bill Presing has contributed this beautiful original painting to this year's Purrcasso auction. Bill is a story artist at Pixar animation studios and contributed work last year as well. Thanks Bill!

Don't forget that the deadline for art has been extended to October 31! The artwork is pouring in and we're going to have a terrific show this year. Keep it coming artists!

Dave Dick and Maki Fujimoto donate again

Two of our Canadian artist friends have donated to Purr-Casso again...

Maki Fujimoto has provided this digital painting printout with color pencil, white ink, pen.

22 cm x 27 cm in frame.


It is titled 2 KITTENS





Dave Dick has given this digital painting of a kitten in an unlikely friendship. It will be in a 4 x 6 wood frame.



Dave notes "Although the image was painted digitally the original file has been destroyed to ensure it is the only high quality print existing."

More details on Purr-casso Art Sale and Gala

Expanded event to include feline and canine arts and crafts, Miss Oakland 2008

A wide variety of works from local and international artists will be on display and for sale at this free event. Appetizers are being provided by Ali Cat's Catering and wine by Mutt Lynch Winery.

Animator Jess Vickery and photographer Tonya Perme donating artwork

Here's some information on two of the artists donating works to Purr-casso 2008:

Jess Vickery is an animator at Tippett Studio. He has worked on films such as Enchanted (2007), The Shaggy Dog (2006), Constantine (2005) and Son of the Mask (2005).

Tonya Perme is a photographer whose subjects are frequently pets. Check out the Pet Portfolios page on her website.

Hey Artists! Purr-casso needs your help!

We are looking for artists to donate their crafts or fine art for the 2008 Purr-casso Art and Craft Gala. All art must include cat or a dog somewhere in the piece. Crafts that are wearable items for dogs or cats are OK too.

Your donation will be formally acknowledged by the BEBHS. In addition, you will be recognized through our website and bi-annual magazine distributed to over 12,000 Bay Area households . We hope that you are able to support this exciting event. Thank you for your consideration of this request. Purr-casso Art and Craft Gala coming November 2008


This cat-themed event exhibits decorative, wearable, & functional art pieces celebrating our feline friends! This year there will be a Dog Corner too. Art will be available for purchase.

The Berkeley-East Bay Humane Society is a private nonprofit organization dedicated to placing homeless animals with committed caretakers; to developing healthy relationships between pets and people through education, training and counseling; and to promoting the humane treatment of all animals.
